What's in a Name?

When I was a young girl, the life I envisioned for myself was quite different than the one it has evolved into. I never pictured myself with a husband or kids before thirty. I always assumed that I would have some amazing apartment in a big city and have some important job.

Then... Well, you know the story. Girl meets cute Marine. Falls in love. Leaves important insurance job. Heads for the coast. Has two babies back to back. And here we are.

I've since learned that I do have an important job -- mom and wife -- even though it is far different than what I pictured it would ever be. This blog chronicles my balance between navigating my twenties and motherhood at the same time.

The name of this blog, Breakfast with Toddlers, plays off one of my favorite movies. Audrey Hepburn stars in Breakfast at Tiffany's as Holly Golightly, a woman trying to make her way in life after leaving an awkward past. My life (and subsequently, this blog) involves more diapers than diamonds, but it is still an interesting transition.
